Subject: The media trend is towards silos and echo chambers. Yields some gains, but the collateral loss is more concerning. Just as TIFF exposes me to outlooks (on football but much else besides) that I'd not encounter among just 'like-minded' friends, so the remit of public service broadcasters with charters is cherishable. Countries without them on any scale aren't to be envied for it, the USA being prime example.
