Even given a tougher run I’d say that’s more likely than not losing once in 3 fixtures. I always found Reading's attitude to this hilarious. Invited to play in Europe in 2007/08 after a great PL debut season (can't remember if it was Intertoto or Fair Play League). Declined Europe because they didn't want their PL form to suffer as a result of the extra fixtures. Coppell was particularly vociferous on this point.   - I think they were split on it if memory of the local press serves. I'd moved to Reading early in the 2006/07 season and soon developed a hatred for them so thoroughly enjoyed the schadenfreude, especially given it was our Great Escape season.     - Hatred that's strong. I think any fanbase that acheives prem status are always going to be a bit cockis. I know Reading from Elm Park and a supporter from those days. Yes the plastic stadium et al but still like to see them acheive a lttle higher status for the real fans and not prem hangers on. John Autotreder departed and from then on downhill.
