Subject: Very much so, Henry. The messianic worship of players by large sections of supporters is something I've always found unsettling. Young people growing up have sporting heros and that's understandable, but I've never understood adult fans being apologists for the type of examples you outlined. There's an almost teenage crush mentality from grown men towards players. I find it weird and just a little creepy.
