In reply to: Jim© The Devon IP 's message, "Ive said it before but I'm convinced that the Leicester game in 83 was the biggest crowd I've ever seen at the Cottage. Way way more than the 25k that they claimed. I was only a kid, but never seen a crush like it." on Monday, September 16, 09:24:54am

  • I wasn't at the Chelsea game (a baby) but as I say, I've been in hundreds of 20-25k crowds at Fulham and there's no way that Leicester game was 25k. I'd add 7 or 8 onto it. (NT) -- Jim© The Devon IP, Monday, September 16, 10:17:15am (62-64-192-58.virtual1.co.uk/62.64.192.58)
  • When I was a nipper my big cousin used to squeeze me in with him through the turnstile. Seem to remember it was common practice, all for a modest gratuity. This “tradition” was continued several years later when I was able to sneak my little lad in for similar operator “benefits”…. Seem to remember this going on a lot through the ‘60’ / 70’s (NT) -- Bad Boy, Monday, September 16, 11:03:48am (NoHost/2.222.160.125)
  • I was 14 and at the Chelsea game at the front of the enclosure. Could see myself on the TV next day. I don't remember it being a bigger crowd than any other of the latter part of the last century. I was 20 and at the Leicester game. It was busy in the Hammersmith End, but not jam packed as I recall the Lincoln homre game. Perhaps my long term memory fails me, or perhaps my sense of proportion wasn't that good?
