::walking up the steps to the apartment, the vampiress reflects on her conversation with Zeth's brood. oh dear, now that hadn't gone well at all. Constance was determined to condescend while Lavinia was determined to reveal as little as possible to the curious redhead. damn. no wonder she'd never wanted children. well, she'd tried, hadn't she? and just because she hadn't succeeded didn't mean that she hadn't really tried. to a casual observer, maybe her attempts would look pathetic. but truly, for one so unschooled in the art of gentle coaxing and comforting, she really had done her best.
entering the apartment, hoping Zeth wouldn't mind her little intrusion, the femme heads straight for the kitchen. flicking on the lights, she pulls open the freezer's door and searches for ice cubes. pulling out a few and sticking them in a nearby dishtowel, she sets the whole package on the counter and moves to the sink. running the water hot enough for steam to rise from it's flow, she runs her hand beneath it. the whole appendage is bruised and bloody, swollen to twice it's normal size and throbbing like a bitch. hey, just because she was immortal and her wounds healed unnaturally fast did not mean that they didn't hurt like all hell. not so much as a wince or grimace crosses her face as the scalding water hit the injured hand, washing the blood and brick dirt from the cuts and revealing more purple- and red-mottled skin.
turning off the water, she picks up the ice in her good hand and settles on the couch. putting the ice in her lap, she begins to set her broken fingers. interesting work with only one fully functioning hand. her hand begins to look a little more normal with every shift of bone and sinew, the only pain the redhead felt shown in her bright green eyes. the grisly work done, she sets the towel full of ice on her knuckles and reclines on the sofa. what a night. hopefully she would have no more like it for quite a while::
