The most important thing Zeth had learned so far in life involved measurements. There are some things that exact measurement always lead you wrong with. The first was spaghetti. When measuring out spaghetti always go with less than it says. Spaghetti, like Zeth, can be very misleading. The second is instant potatoes. Maybe it’s because they’re so delicious, but more than the recommended measurement is always best. Last but not least is the measurement of time. It can not be trusted. This is the realization that Zeth came to on that sunny June morning as he carefully strolled through the sagging doors of his warehouse.

His stride was arrogant, as always, and his gaze flittered over his old stomping ground before arching to the stairs. The main warehouse was empty and clean of debris. Zeth correlated this to the fact that a large FOR SALE sign had been posted over the gate he’d pushed past to get in. Damn city officials trying to rezone and sell abandoned land.

As Zeth swaggered into the upstairs apartment, he pushed the door back and found the room miraculously well polished. Still furnished as he left it, he was glad to see there would be little to no clean up involved with his move. That suited him well. Well, almost as he left it. As his gaze drifted over the walls it came to a halt on a new tapestry that had been hung. The yarn used to weave the installation piece was the first thing that caused its not-in-a-good-way eye catching design. Chunky red yarn had been drug, probably kicking and screaming, through the fibers and topped off with gold metallic fabric in irregular patters throughout. Bright orange, which added nothing to the piece color scheme, had been stitched on perhaps the shape of a woman. Zeth knew women and if he’d encountered this one at the bar, his next text message might have been a nasty read. Zeth wondered if perhaps this apartment might be where art came to die. No seriously, was it? He wasted to time to climbing up the white fabric couch and tearing the piece of the wall.

When he said he’d never come back 4 years ago, he didn’t really mean. Jeeze.
