Barriers of wood, plaster, and metal were not protection; they were not layers of armor built to shield flesh and bone from much of anything. Sure, it could stop a knife or a small stone, but definitely not one of Audrey�s special tokens. Most spells were not cast in a line of sight fashion. They are formed around a thought and an image, wrapped with intent, and glazed with energy. They did not sail through the air like a paper airplane to land with a kerthump against the wall. Briallan�s children were all both self-taught and hard cored schooled to use their bloodlines. Even Zeth had received schooling of some degree, being spawn of Alairic�s seed. Over the river and through the words to Zeth�s flesh we go. No wall or city street could stop this spell.
