.:. There was no stopping what one of Bri’s children wanted. He had learned this first hand with his son only days before. The spell whipped around corners with deep slashed vibration patterns. Zeth heard it coming. He turned sculpted head and saw it shimmering with a lightning speed. It was on a collision course with his frame. He tried to make a mad dash away, tugging on shadows to move locations completely. But just the darkness consumed him that flash of light found him. He was bolted by the spell, sent reeling as his skin burnt. He could smell and feel the pain all at once. Without holding on to the shadows, he fell from them and found himself only a foot farther down the hall then when he’d first tried to escape. So much for shadows vs. spells. He lay in a crumpled mess in the hallway, curled as tightly in a ball as he could muster. His throat didn’t hurt anymore but he was almost afraid to move, afraid to find what the spell had done to him. “Alicia!” He screamed it out in panic, begging for her to come and fetch him off the floor, dust him down, and tell him he wasn’t going to die.:.
