Catching out of the corner of his eye the subtle change in Zeth's approach to the frightful female and the faintly amusing reaction it got, he reached the window in his silent outskirt-stalking and slipped inside. With characteristic grace, though not because he was practiced in dragging dead women about, he left the fire-escape standoff behind him, bearing Bri swiftly through the apartment, retracing his feline-footed path to the bedroom that had been offered to him for the night. Again, no disturbing personal interests in dead women, but it was farther from the battle and that seemed a favorable quality. Intentionally avoiding looking into the dead eyes, he arranged the cooling corpse gently on the bed, even -and somebody take note of his good manners- taking the time to fold the bedding cover over to drape the dead and shroud her silent stare from the living world. Correction: living and undead. Slipping a hand under the shroud with a bit of a grimace, he drew the unseeing eyes carefully closed, shaking his hand afterward to toss off the lingering feel of the cold eyelids against his fingertips as he looked over the recognizable shape of Death in what could have been his bed. Ugh, such morbidity! And if he wanted to avoid the same fate, now would be the time to abandon his fellow vampires and flit off into shadows. A tempting thought, to escape the female's fury from being turned on him if she got past the elder male. But between Bri's attempts and final success at death, Max's betrayal, and some ghostly essence of a conscience, he could almost feel bad for his host, almost enough to bring him to his fellow nightmare's side were he not at least intelligent enough to imagine the damage he himself would suffer for doing so. But it was enough to, with a final uneasy glance back at the silent Bri, turn his feet back in the direction of the fire escape, sending his senses ahead to listen in on the exchange. There was still time to abandon any alliances, turn, and fly away if need be...
