Subject: Chatting around the campfire

Ravin's entire body tensed while he watched Alyssa's display of anger. He moved forward when the woman slapped Kyri, halting after his beloved flashed him the thieves' cant sign for wait. His brothers gave him a puzzled look, no doubt wondering why he wasn't rushing to his future wife's aid.

Ravin trusted Kyri's judgment in the matter with Alyssa. He considered her his equal, and knew she could handle just about anything without assistance. If she wanted him to intercede she'd call out to him, but he sensed her need to take care of things with Alyssa on her own. His eyes flew over the faces of his brothers. A quick shake of his head told them to swallow their anger, and hold their ground. Kyri didn't want them interfering; she had everything under control.

His gaze returned to his beloved just as Alyssa's fisted hands began plummeting her. The calmness Kyri possessed surprised him. He fully expected her to retaliate against the woman's attack. Kyri wasn�t the type to let anyone walk all over her like she was allowing Alyssa to do right now. Her reasons became apparent to him once his empathy picked up on the intense grief coming from Alyssa.

Ravin turned his attention to the woman's mouth once she stopped shouting out her words and lowered her voice. He was able to lip read most of what she said to Kyri. Alyssa longed for a deceased lover and a baby that had been lost to her as well. Kyri whispered something to her that made hope flicker within her eyes.

He felt the tension leave his brothers when Alyssa turned and fled, disappearing into the forest. A sound similar to a door opening and closing was heard shortly after her departure. Puzzled looks crossed the faces of the Rovers before they returned to their chores. Ravin was more experienced with encountering magic than any of his kin, and immediately presumed that Alyssa had vanished through a portal created by a spell of sorts.

After returning Kyri's smile, Ravin followed her to the campfire where she greeted Arcanum with a fierce hug before she nodded at the other guests gathered around the campfire. He laughed when he realized that Nerissa had captured the attention of both Arcanum and Starfire. The men would probably fight for her attention all night long at the wedding celebration. Hopefully, she had enough stamina to deal with hours of non-stop dancing.

Ravin introduced Tallon to Kyri as well as Jeremy since he didn't know if she remembered the otherworldly youth. He was about to indulge in a glass of moonshine but accepted the mug of ale Carp handed him instead. Ale didn't have much effect on him or the other Rovers because they were practically weaned on the stuff.

He held his mug to Kyri's lips, letting her take a quick sip before he poured her a cup of herbal tea. It probably wasn't a good idea for his beloved to drink much alcohol until after she gave birth to her daughter. Ravin laughed again when Blossom insinuated that he couldn't wait to sneak off with Kyri earlier. She knows me too well!

"I guess we should set a date, love," he said while snaking his arm around Kyri's waist and pulling her closer. "The sooner the better."

"Here, here!" his brothers shouted, raising their mugs in the air.

Ravin knew that Minnow and a number of the other Rover women were already hard at work on their wedding attire. He kissed Kyri's cheek then met her eyes. "A few of our friends recently left for Neromba. We'll have to ask Nicklar to send them a message asking that they return for the wedding once we decide on a date."

Starfire cleared his throat, gaining the couple's attention. "You both better draw us a picture of how you want your cabin built so we can get to work on it. Until then you'll have to be content with sleeping in a tent."

Ravin shared a grin with Kyri; only she knew about the quaint little home he owned in the city. They had their own secret hideaway to escape too that guaranteed them the privacy they'd never get within the Rover's camp.
