Basically some people are of the opinion that the Bene Gesserit had access to male other Memories and simply were too afraid to look into them because it would destroy them. Others believe that they knew it was possible to access it, but they just couldn't do it at all, and thus they had another motivation to breed for a Kwisatz Haderach.
Now if Reverend Mothers always had access to male Other Memory, Alia might be open and want to look into her male other memories, but then she would be destroyed. It wouldn't matter if she had gone throught the Water of Life ceremony when she was adult or in the womb, the fact is that all other female Bene Gesserits who had gone before couldn't access male memory because either they couldn't physically do it, or if they did they would be destroyed. Alia isn't different because she is a female. For some reason genetically the females before Alia cannot access their male ancestral memories.
We have to conclude that since Alia was able to survive, because she does survive, (She is only destroyed later by possession and not the fact that she has access to male Other Memory) that there is something fundamentally different about her, that isn't simply preborness.
Alia's preborness doesn't allow for her survival. Like I said, ALL females previously were destroyed by male Other Memory or just couldn't access it at all. The fact that Alia is female ,means that she wouldn't be able to access Other Memory at all, or if she did she would die because she is female. So we must conclude that Alia was different from other Reverend Mothers in some way. The only way she was different was her Atreides genetics.
