I believe there were two versions of no-ships. The first was invented during the Imperium, and used by the Harkonnens. It was totally invisible: electromagneticly, visually, and presciently.

The second type was invented by the Ixians about 3500 years later. I think this type was only invisible electromagneticly and presciently. In Heretics, near the end, Teg brings a stolen no-ship to Dune to pick up Odrade and Sheeana. I'm pretty sure Herbert describes them seeing and hearing the no-ship, but knowing that it was invisible to sensors.
