Subject: No-techs...

Just to refresh memories, since I just read it...
The Richesian, Chobyn, brought the technology with him to Geidi Prime specifically to sell it to the wealthy Baron. He discusses the fact that once he let the idea out of the bag with members of his own house, many others would modify it and sell it cheaper. The no-tech generator was actually a modified Holtzman field. Chobyn says he "suspects" his was the first, since it made a few big jumps from then-current technology. The hidden room in the Harkonnen forest was the prototype generator. Since it was successful, they moved on to applying it to a spacecraft. The generator they put on the ship created a field of 140m and Chobyn said they chose the ship because it was the same size as the field (the Baron wanted it installed on a smaller ship). The way they describe it in this book is basically a pocket of nowhere. Since the space in the field doesn't exist in space, Navigators and such can't see it.
The Baron killed everyone who built the hidden room, then killed all the workers and Chobyn when the no-ship was finished. Later, after going over Chobyn's notes, they discover that lasguns can't be used on the no-ship because of the Holtzman field involved. That's why they used the incindiary weapon in destroying the Theilaxu transports inside the Heighliner.
Rabban does worry about moving in the path of other ships, so the ship isn't actually phased out of reality or anything. Also, it is suggested that the no-ship could be tracked, if someone were actually looking for it.
That's everything I remember off the top of my head.
