I think it was inferred that the no-ship was destroyed, mostly, but the BG knew what the technology was worth. They kept the heart of the ships' no-works, for future use if they could figure out the technology.
That would have made the BG think they could have some sway over any future ruler, whether they used it or not.
Just a thought...
