Subject: Dune 7 Face Dancers aren't machines.
In reply to: IDAHO 's message, "This idea is similar to Dark City or the Matrix" on 15:07:06 07/03/03 Thu

The Face Dancers are the product of scattered teilaxu technology gone out of control- I doubt that they're PART OF The Omnius machine story-line...
The Handlers that control the futurs aren't neccasarily face dancers. Dortulja met some of them and described them as a bit different.
Seems to me that we've seen remnants of the bene Gesserit, the fish speakers, and the teilaxu returned form the scattering. The other major powers, Ix and the Guild could be tied to the other major powers returned.
I think the "net" that the face dancers used to try to capture idaho and his ship is a symbolic prescient vision that Duncan could see- it is thier absorbed ability fromthe scattering- they mention that they've absorbed the personalities and memories of many masses of bene gesserits, likely Atreides, other wild talents from people in the Scattering-so it's likely that Miles Teg's "wild" talent to see "no-ships" has been duplicated before, and these face dancers can use it.
Perhaps a mix of Ixian(technology, also their own from of genetic engineering-Hwi Noreee, Malky- and the Guild steersmen- mutant, prescient- have become the futurs and their deadly handlers. This mix would be more likely to break that butlerian jihad against thinking machines- and could possibly be allied with Omnius or Agamemnon himself. Or even and expanded version of the deadly erasmus.
Just my thoughts, after finishin Chapterhouse: Dune.
