...turning point for Xavier. They were favored to win that game at home and I think the loss was an embarrassment for them. If they'd had lost by 4 or 5, not so much embarrassment, but a 20 point loss at home made them look bad....and they've since had to go out and prove that they're for real.

I never questioned Matta's impact, I questioned the players. They took the floor for the Shootout like they just had to show up to win and UC showed them they had to play, too. That game was definitely a wake up call for the Xavier players....just like the losses the last few years have been a wake up call for the UC players.

If Xavier had won, I'm not so sure some of these close wins wouldn't have been losses.

It may be the best thing that happened to the Xavier players this season.
