• Discouraging on a number of levels. Beaten by essentially a one man ( pretty good player ) team. Same problems manifest themselves but corrective actions are either not forthcoming or are ineffective. Needed this game very badly - now DU has to figure out how to steal TWO games down the road to make up for PSU and Bobby Mo. Even though the A-10 is not doing as well as I expected DU has to figure a way to be 10-3 or 9-4 ( minimum) in the non-conference portion of the schedule. • Freakin Free throws.....RE has to correct this.....Clark's 1 and 1's killed us.....Need Evans back...a C- from the guards tonight, seemed like Talley and to a lesser degree McConnel couldn't buy a critical basket....couple of times McC drove was wide open for a mid-range jumper, acted like he was surprised he was so open and clanged 2 easy shots....when he was in high school he lived off those shots...did he? Gotta either drive hard or pull-up, but with confidence......also some critical free throws he missed....did I say the 1and 1's killed us.... • I actually thought we competed well. I did not expect us to hang in there. PSU is not a bad team this year. I have been saying for 3 years we need a big man. • I'm not gonna disagree that our FT shooting is a problem. But I don't know how it can be blamed on Bill Clark, the only player on our team who shoots them consistently. TJ has a good percentage as well, but it's a bit limited of a sample. I'd level the criticism at those who hardly ever make a FT, not the guy who scored 19 points but also happened to miss a couple of 1 and 1 opportunities. • We lost because we missed too many 3-point shots, we made a couple bad passes at critical times, and we missed some FTs. Very happy with the effort; team played hard for 40 minutes. Could've used Andre tonight, but got some good minutes out of Peggau. Saunders and Clark were great, BJ was good, we needed one more to step up big. This was another game where we missed Eric Evans.   • ED, respect your opinion greatly, and you were there, so maybe I'm wrong, but we were 14-31 from 3, which is a phenomenal percentage. Damian and BJ were 7-10. That won't happen again. And I'm not sure what you saw out of Peggau, either. He's awful on defense, commits too many easy fouls and is way out of control on offense. I feel the game slipped away right after BJ was hurt and missed several minutes, and Rod was forced to be in there.   • Would love to hear from a former player as to what plays he draws up. Draw might be a bad word as he doesn't use a dry erase board. Might just be a little lite "get TJ the ball for a 3 low in the shot clock." he doesn't appear to be a teacher.   • He couldn't use a box-and-1 because we don't have a player who can guard Battle 1-on-1. And he got himself open on some of those long bombs by running beautifully off screens.   • Did you mean a box AND one? Because, you know, you sound smarter when you use the right phrase. Also, it seemed to me that all Penn State did in the last couple of minutes was shoot FTs. There was only one point at which I thought we should have fouled sooner, but other than that I don't have a problem with the way Ron coached this game. Ron, BTW, has a lot of class on the sidelines, something I'd occasionally like to see from other coaches.
