Subject: All of that is true. Pitt and Duquesne got into trouble for many of the same reasons. Their campuses were small, crappy, and outdated. They needed to spend lots of money to bring the physical plants up to par. Litchfield also spent money trying to raise the academic profile of Pitt. (more inside)

Pitt was in big trouble by the mid 60's, and was forced to give up it's status as a private school. Duquesne, as a Catholic school, didn't have any such option.
