That brings back memories of Mickey at the Arena, feeding the "Jewel" with crisp passes and scoring and rebounding against top flight teams. I was saddened when he quit school and went to the Pipers in the ABA. While he was with the Bucks he had a nice, but short career. He left a mark on team partying, even 4-5 years after he left,certain bars were referred to as "Mickey Davis Bars" by the players. -- Duquesne Dukes Basketball Forum

Manning likely would have remained coach a while longer, and St John's and Providence would have had to seriously consider becoming charter members of the E8 had a powerhouse DU been part of the mix. That aren't enough O's in Smooth to describe the way Mickey played basketball. On my second day ever on campus, I foolishly got myself into a pickup game on the little court by the music school that was literally a "cage". At one point, I was left wide open and tried a shot from the corner. Mickey Davis took about two strides from the opposite corner and swatted it out of the cage.
