When my daughter was looking at colleges seven years ago, we visited Villanova's campus. I guess we weren't impressed with the $40,000 price tag for tuition, r & b, fees, & books per year. In my mind these were Ivy League prices at that time. Clearly Villanova was no Ivy League school. The student(s) who conducted the tour seemed to convey the impression that Villanova was practically the best or nearly the best in practically every area of study. (I'm sure this was part of their indoctrination from the Admissions Dept.) I spoke to another parent on the tour who was from the N. Allegheny School Dist. & he agreed with my view.

In my conversations with people from Philadelphia over the years, I must say that quite a few were not too fond of Villanova. It seems that the school was perceived of having an abundance of pampered rich kids who carried an irritating attitude of superiority. While my impression of Villanova is hardly supported by any professionally conducted surveys, I often wonder if Villanova could capture widespread fan interest in its football program outside of its alumni should it make that move to the FBS.
