I have heard comments from my brothers and sisters. When my father died, they were 2½, 5,6,10,11. The youngest doesn't remember much at all, the 5 and 6 year olds as well as the 10 and 11 year olds all wanted to say good bye to their fathers. The 11 year old acutally said that without seeing Mom's body, she would not accept that Mom had died, but instead just decided to stay in Germany and didn't want anything more to do with us. She said that stemmed from not saying good-bye to Daddy when she was little and that she also felt Dad may have wanted to just leave us and did not die. Strange, I know.....but these were issues she was still dealing with for over 35 years!!!!

The other three(10,6&5) all were disappointed that they were not given the chance to say good-bye. The youngest of those did not want to leave Daddy's grave that following Easter Sunday because he wanted to show Daddy his new Easter Shoes. Mom had to drag him away kicking and screaming.

Yes, this is a hard age. They do not fully understand the relationship to here on Earth and up in Heaven. I have tried very hard to explain things to my children. All their grandparents are already up in heaven. They are not lucky enough to get the spoiling.......BUT, they have four grandparents and two aunts watching over them.

HTH

Cyber Hugs,
Martha
