Read your message with great intrigue. My paternal grnadmother married Ernest W Appleby sometime after 1910. He died in 1918 accidentally on James Island in British Columbia. She remarried Everett Leslie Usher formerly of Iowa in 1919 and begat my father. When my father died, long before I had an interest in geneaology, he left an address book containing the name Evelyn Appleby, with a Tanzanian address from the 1960's or 1970's. Whether this is the Evelyn you mention, or someone who simply married in, I don't know. I am trying to find this person or their offspring to see if there is any written, photographic, or verbal family history that might help me with Eleanor and Ernest. I even wonder if the Ernest W. Appleby might be Ernest WALTON Appleby. I stood beside his grave in Victoria B.C. earlier this week.
