You know, I only have gotten and read the first issue, but I feel exactly as you do. The comic, so far, just doesn't measure up to what I thought was a candidate for the best series on television, ever. I was wondering whether everyone else is of a similar mind. It's hard to understand, as I always felt that the writing and directing was the main thing that made it so great.
Your question about the Angel timeline is obviously pretty important, as that was an ending to a series that topped that of The Sopranos! (And, of course, it has implications for the rest of Buffyverse.)
