Dan, I have been sitting here watching the show unfold with not some little amusement. We all know that if there is a quality in a breed that you want-and you fail to breed for it-you will lose it. Without some sort of testing, be it organized or done privately by the breeder, how can anyone tell what they are really breeding?
As far as the overseas judgement of Night Train and his "type". He was bred in South Africa. He has also scored in the mid-eighties at both a SABT and an HBSA appraisal, so I guess that these two organizations feel he is a pretty decent representative of the breed. As far as the appraisal scores go, neither David nor myself are impressed with any appraisal score done anywhere on any boerboel. We have seen what Night Train is capable of doing-and we've seen what some of his offspring is capable of doing. Our assesment is more important and valuable than theirs!!
