Quinn smiled as the message arrived at her console, she quickly copied it to a PDA and stood, just as she stepped away from the computer another message arrived. Turning she read the message and smiled with satisfaction. Quinn looked up toward the perch, tapped several keys on the keyboard and with a smirk hit send. With a wave she left Comm swiftly rushing to her room.
Walter and Birkoff stared at her as she exited.
“What’s up amigo?” Walter asked.
Birkoff shrugged concerned. “Let me check something.” He stated as he walked toward his station at Comm. “Maybe you should go to Nikita and gather the loyal guards, I don’t like this anymore than you do.”
Walter nodded and walked to the back, pulling the gates down and locking them he turned his laptop on and quickly searched the system, finding what Quinn had sent to Nikita. Looking up he sighed. “She still has to try and separate Michael from Nikita with these lies.” He mumbled as he hit delete, satisfied that Nikita would never read the message he turned and quickly closed Munitions. Pulling his leather jacket on he rushed toward Nikita’s private chambers.
As Quinn closed the door of her bedroom she sighed. “Now you will all suffer for betraying your leaders.” Smiling she stepped to the panel at the back of her room and pushed several buttons. she turned as a hidden door slid open. Quinn gathered several things inside her backpack, threw her laptop in and vanished through the door.
Birkoff ordered everyone out as he read the message Quinn had received, he shook his head as he tried to force his legs to work. Standing he quickly turned the intercom on.
“Emergency! All operatives must abandon their posts and exit Section immediately!”
He watched as his comrades at Comm gathered their laptops and discs and quickly left. Birkoff pushed several keys sending all information inside the computers to their backup at Section eight. With shaking hands he set the alarm on his watch knowing they had exactly six minutes to abandon Section before the attack.
Nikita turned, her Glock pointed at Walter’s heart as he entered her chamber.
“How long do we have?” She asked as she threw clothing at Nanna who quickly filled the three suitcases on the bed.
Walter shrugged. “By what Birkoff said just a few seconds ago, I imagine no more than three minutes to reach the street.”
Nikita exhaled loudly before turning and gathering Hope in her arms and throwing a blanket over the baby.
“Where’s Adam?” She shouted as she pulled her jacket on.
Adam rushed into the room and threw himself into her arms. His shivering little body wrapped his arms around her neck and buried his tear stained face in her neck. “Are we going to die now?” He asked in a shivering little voice.
Nikita gave Hope to Walter as she tenderly brushed Adam’s hair in a soothing motion. “No love, but we must go now before the bad people arrive.”
Adam nodded and quickly placed a wet kiss on her cheek before he slid down her front and turned his wide eyed gaze to Walter.
Birkoff burst into the room, his breathing heavy and erratic. Doubling over he checked his watch and waved his hand frantically.
“F-Four minutes.” He managed to gasp.
Nikita and Walter stared at each other as the guards took the suitcases and Nanna took Adam in her arms and stepped passed them. Nikita tenderly took Hope from Walter and quickly followed them, Walter and Birkoff were the last to leave their gazes meeting in a frightened manner.
“Can we reach the surface in time Birkoff?” Walter asked as they entered the elevator.
Birkoff shrugged and closed his eyes, shaking his head he said a silent prayer. Suddenly the elevator shook wildly making Nikita trip and fall to her knees, Hope tightly lasped to her breast. Another explosion shook them all making Adam jump out of Nanna’s arms and rush to Nikita.
“Mommy I want daddy now!” He cried.
Nikita wrapped her left arm around Adam as the elevator lights went dead and a horrible explosion sent the elevator rushing down in a perilous and swift fall.

Michael felt his strength leaving him, almost like it had happened once before during the Klodno mission. He had felt his life ebbing slowly, drop by drop as the wounds that he had sustained oozed blood. He shivered remembering that cold and fearful night when he had been abandoned by his entire team. He had felt furious that Nikita had gone with them until his rational mind reminded him that she must have been forced. He had fought the darkness that had begun to take over his senses until he found that empty car, where he had taken refuge until Angie arrived. He had awakened to the opening door and knew that he needed help, he had begun to go into shock and would soon slip into unconsciousness. He had been amazed when Angie decided to help him, he could not believe her tenderness and caring and had made an instant decision, he would bring her back to section and set her up as a nurse in medical. There she would be free to be herself and the only worry she would have would be to stay alive long enough for him to take control of section. He had never imagined that his beloved Nikita would betray him and take over the perch herself.
Michael grimaced as the car hit a pothole and bounced him around. He forced his eyes to open and met Shantal’s dark gaze which shimmered with unshed tears. Raising his hand he gently cupped her cheek.
“Don’t cry for me Cherie, I’m not worth it.” He stated in a breathless whisper.
Shantal leaned over and kissed Michael’s trembling lips.
“You’re worth my life and thousands more.” She whispered against his parted lips. “You have to fight Michael, Nikita and your children need you.”
Michael closed his eyes and sighed. His hand gently cupped the back of her neck and pulled her down to meet his lips once again. They both shivered with the ecstatic emotions that cursed through them as their lips touched. Michael smiled against her lips, hoping against hope that one day he might be able to repay her for all her kindness toward him. They parted as the car stopped and the door opened.
Michael tenderly brushed his fingers down her cheek as Gadari knelt inside and gently took him away from Shantal’s arms.
Once Omar had his legs, Shantal exited the car and rushed toward the ship that bobbed at the edge of a platform beside them.
“Please hurry, he needs to rest undisturbed so he might recover.” Shantal stated as she climbed the plank. Turning she waited until they carried Michael unto the ship and followed as a young man took them below to a cabin. Once they settled Michael’s inert form on the cabin’s bed, Gadari and Omar quickly left the room.
Shantal gently turned Michael on his back and began to take his shoes off. She took the blanket off the chair and with infinite tenderness covered Michael with it.
“There’s a gun under the pillow Michael, it’s loaded and ready in case we need it.” She whispered.
Michael nodded as his lids began to drift closed. Shantal pushed herself away but gasped as Michael’s hand shot out and grabbed hers pulling her to sit beside him.
“Thank you Aztrid.” He murmured as his eyelids drifted closed.
Shantal smiled and lovingly placed a kiss upon his brow.
“You’re welcome.” she frowned at hearing a scuffle outside the door, she placed a soft kiss upon Michael’s parted lips and began to stand. She whimpered as a hand snaked around her waist and dragged her back against a large form.
“Quiet child or he will suffer.” A hoarse whisper carried rancid breath to her nostrils making her gag. Shantal struggled further trying to get his hands off her.
Michael’s alarmed senses jerked into full alert as he heard Shantal’s struggles. Fighting his overwhelming fatigue he reached up and grabbed the gun that was hidden under his pillow. With careful movements he slowly disentangled the
blanket from his legs and with amazing speed pounced on the man holding Shantal.
Shantal fell to the floor shocked, as she watched Michael hold a gun to the man’s temple. The man smirked angrily at him.
“You can’t get away, you’re a slave and as a slave you will die for this.” The man growled at Michael.
Shantal met Michael’s worried gaze and quickly scrambled up unto her knees.
“Go!” Michael ordered as he began to pull the trigger.
Shantal looked up as the door burst open and a shot rang out. She watched horrified as Michael doubled over and collapsed limply beside the man who shot him. Shantal screamed loudly trying to reach Michael.
Dark, smelly hands grabbed her and pulled her to her feet. Her eyes riveted on the inert form before her. Her gaze roamed Michael’s body for any telltale signs of blood or breath, she could find none and screamed even louder.
The man who held her clamped a dirty hand over her mouth and hissed into her ear. “Stop screaming before you make me hurt you.”
“Please let me go to him, he needs me.” She stated in a terrified whisper.
The man who held her chuckled before turning her around and clasping her chin with his hard grasp.
“Don’t worry about him baby, he’s dead and gone and does not need a pretty little thing like you to warm his cold skin.” The man stated as his hand sneaked up her throat and pressed hard against her throbbing vein. Shantal felt the world shake and shimmer into darkness as the man forced the blood to drain from her brain.
Shantal gasped softly. “Michel.” Before falling into the inky darkness of insensibility.
