Shantal reached Michael’s side and sniffed softly. Hiding the fact that she was getting a cold from Gadari.
“Michael, how have you survived when you suffer this much?” She asked herself as she knelt beside Michael. Looking up she watched as Omar and Gadari stood watching her. She smiled as both men turned and walked to the door.
~*~*~*~*~*
Gadari and Omar quickly stepped out of the room, the cool breeze swept through the garden making them shiver as they closed the door.
“Do you think it will be more dangerous to take the passage than to simply walk out of the palace?” Omar asked Gadari as they walked toward the fire.
Gadari knelt before the fire and banked the last flames.
“It will be the same, we both know Rahine left enough guards to make any escape unthinkable. Besides if the rumors are true, Jamil will arrive by morning. We must leave. Like Shanti said, we either go soon or we won’t go at all.”
Omar moved to the edge of the garden, where a small patch of Ivy climbed and hid the broken piece of the wall, one person could easily look out and see the sands beyond the palace during the day. Even now through the darkness he could see beyond the city gates, where several cars drove down the dark road that led to Alexandria. He sighed and closed his eyes, remembering his home and family.

Shantal gently took Michael’s hands in hers, massaging his fists until he relaxed and opened them. Sighing softly he turned toward her.
“Ange, merci beaucoup.” He whispered in his sleep.
Shantal smiled and gently brushed the soft curls off his forehead. “You’re welcome.”
Michael’s lips turned up softly, the tiny smile making her gasp as her heart constricted with tenderness.
“This is wrong, he’s married and has children, you should not feel this way Shantal!” She berated herself.
Shantal quivered as Michael began to speak. His soft, almost whisper like voice enchanted her as she gazed into his pale features.
“Nikita? Please Nikita come back, don’t leave. Bring him back please.” He gasped and curled his body into a fetal position beside Shantal.
She gently brushed her fingers through his hair. “Shhh Michael, it will be alright-“ She shrieked as Michael cringed and sat up, clasping her wrist tightly in his
strong grip.
Looking around, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes with his right hand. Shifting his gaze to meet hers he slowly relaxed and sat back against the wall.
Looking up he met her startled gaze. “Set me free.” He whispered as he rubbed his fingers across his forehead.
Shantal squirmed softly, trying to force Michael to let go of her arm.
“I...I’ve already told you, Rahine; our queen desires to have children, she chose you as the sperm donor.” She whispered as she twisted her arm around.
Michael’s frown deepened. “Why am I really here?” He huskily whispered.
Shantal closed her eyes and allowed her arm to go limp in his hold.
“Michael; you are to mate with me, we have been chosen to give my queen and king heirs.”
Michael chuckled softly, his eyes widened as Shantal’s pink tongue slipped out wetting her pouting lips. Moving enticingly close, he leaned down and placed his lips a hairs breath away from hers, blowing softly until the dewy wetness evaporated.
Shantal’s senses reeled. Michael’s sensuality ignited a flame in Shantal’s midsection which hopscotched to all the sweet spots that only Jamil had touched before. Held prisoner by the magnetic pull of his drugging almost kiss and the compelling masculine scent that was Michael’s alone, Shantal leaned forward, her heartbeat playing rapid counterpoint to the hammering pulse in Michael’s neck.
Shantal recognized the white-hot sexual desire she hadn’t felt for months.
But Michael soon jolted her from her carnal reverie as he brushed her cheek with his warm lips, then whispered into her ear.
“I need to clean myself. We’ll talk afterwards.” He stated coldly as he stood and stepped away from her. He
proceeded to slowly stumble toward the bathroom. Reaching the bathroom, he quickly slammed the door closed and leaned against it.
“What is wrong with me? I almost devoured her mouth!” Opening his eyes he slowly looked around the room, it was a feminine room, the sink was dark gray marble, a small cup held 2 toothbrushes, one open and one new. black tile with
tiny rose buds covered the entire area from floor to ceiling. The shower curtain was black with dark red roses, the curtain hooks were red rose buds. The toilet
was covered in dark red with a red rose shaped shower mat. He smiled softly thinking about Nikita and her tendency for simple elegance.
“Took me long enough to teach her the virtues of simplicity.” He stated as he slowly and painfully walked to the shower.
Carefully regulating the temperature of the water he stepped into the shower stall and leaned against the wall, allowing the water to flow down his shaking body.
“This is ridiculous! You cannot be attracted to this woman, she had you kidnaped, has been drugging you and might have caused Nikita to harm herself. How can
you even think of kissing her?” he harangued himself as the warm water flowed over him.
Forcing his mind to stop torturing him with images of Shantal’s delicate naked body, he slowly opened his eyes and reached out for the soap. Working up a lather he slowly and carefully covered his body with the sweet smelling soap.
He continued to castigate himself mentally for the desire that sprouted hard and tender between his strong thighs.
“You should be ashamed. You have a beautiful wife who adores you and must be extremely worried about you and all you can think about is taking this girl and fucking her! Shameful!” He whispered as he covered his face with the lather.
A soft knock jolted him out of his reverie making him drop the soap. With tightly closed eyes he carefully knelt and searched the flat surface for the bar of soap.
“Michael?” Came the soft voice from the other side of the door. “Are you ok?”
Michael cursed softly as his knee found the soap and he slipped, tumbling head first against the opposite wall. Reaching out he barely stopped his forehead from hitting the tile hard.
“I’m fine!” He stated loudly as he carefully lowered himself to sit on the floor.
Bringing his knees up he slowly cupped his hands and washed the soap off his face. “Serves you right for wanting her!” Looking down he glared at his manhood which stood erect and proud, shaking softly as Shantal’s voice reached him once again.
“Michael please open the door, you’re still too weak to shower alone, you could slip and harm yourself.”
Michael smirked and shook his head. “Hurt myself more? How?” He whispered as he dropped his head to lay on his bent knees. “Leave me alone girl.” He shouted as Shantal knocked once again.
He sighed as he hot water cursed down his shoulders and back, relaxing the knotted muscles.
Shantal looked behind her, noticing Gadari and Omar standing at the open door that led to the garden.
“He’s been in there for almost one hour. I’m worried he’ll harm himself.”
Gadari nodded, looking at Omar he stepped out into the garden.
“Where is he going?” Shantal asked softly as she knocked on the door once again.
Omar shrugged. “Around the back, to climb through the window.”
Shantal sighed, leaning her head against the door.
“Michael is weak, not dead, if Gadari climbs into the window Michael will attack.”
Omar shook his head softly. “By what I have seen, Michael could not even hurt a fly.” Gently pushing Shantal aside he knelt and carefully looked at the door knob. Nodding he took his dagger and slowly introduced it into the keyhole carefully trying to break the lock.
Shantal leaned against the wall and watched as Omar worked feverishly to open the lock.
“You’re worried also aren’t you?”
Omar nodded, if Michael is as deadly as you believe, it’s better to break a lock than allow any harm to come to my brother.
Shantal gasped. Reaching out she clasped Omar’s shoulder. “Gadari is your brother?”
Omar nodded. “My younger brother. We were lucky to be bought by Jamil.” He stated dispassionately.
Shantal stepped back. “Why didn’t Ashdar tell me?” she mumbled softly.
Omar smiled, turning he gazed at Shantal over his shoulder.
“He doesn’t know, only that smelly bastard who took us from our home knows and he’s been dead for the last seven years.” He stated coldly as he twisted the knife in
the lock.
Shantal jumped as a knock was heard at the main door.
“Finish this, and keep Michael calm, I’ll see who it is.” She said as she rushed to the door. Opening it she gasped and fell to her knees. “My Lord!”
Omar’s head jerked around just as the lock gave. He stood slowly. “Lalla?”
Shantal lifted her head slightly and jerked her chin toward the door. “Deal with the problem Omar.” She said as she stood and quickly closed the door behind her.
“Jamil, I thought you were at the summer palace with Rahine. You could be infected by what Michael has.” She whispered as she gazed at her owner.
Jamil smiled tenderly. “I have missed you my dear.” He whispered sensually as he gathered Shantal in his embrace. “Forget that man, he will be dead by morning.”
He stated as he nodded at the large guard standing against the wall.
Seeing Shantal’s expression he smiled and slowly dragged her toward the royal chambers.
