If you really thought that Michael was completely evil, why did you watch the show?

The show worked because of the complexity of its characters, especially the two main protagonists. To flatten Michael as completely evil nullifies that completely.

While what you have said about him may have justification, those examples do not comprise Michael's personality. Either Nikita saw way beyond what Michael appeared to be or you have to believe that she was stupid.

That is the beauty of this story and the beauty of the first ending. They both embody the complexity of both the characters and the story line. Michael came to Nikita in the night and made tender, passionate love to her, proving the depth of their love and then, walked away from her as she had asked him to at the end of the season using the same words. These words had now become a symbol of not only their love for each other but also, their sacrifice. Nikita knew Michael as no one else could. She knew that his words were a lie, just as he knew that hers were. (Unless we are expected to believe that she was not nearly as intellient or perceptive as he was)

Like someone said earlier, this is a great story to bring out so much discussion and deep thought. I like the 3 choice idea, personally. The writer obviously did not want to do the reader's thinking for him, but left it up to him to make his own decisions. We can only do the same. :-)
