Let's not end on a negative note! LOL We have been given a beautiful, well-written story which has fostered
a wonderful discussion.

We made the discussion, but the story-teller provided the catalyst. It was the quality of the writing of this tale, which inspired the discussion which followed.

What I mean by that is that the author kept Michael's motivation as well as her own opinions out of the work and allowed each reader to form their own opinion. This is one of the marks of good writing. The writer's job is to tell the story, period. Everything else is up to the reader.

As for whether or not Michael or Nikita would have acted as they did, that was never the point. This was not meant to be a character study, just a story. If the writer had wanted us to know Michael's motivation - revenge, love, hatred, humor, or whatever, she would have given us his thoughts.

As it was we only have the story. I like to think of stories like works of art. They aren't good or bad or like or not like - they just are. I'm sure that Monet did not care if people thought that his tree really looked like a tree or not.

Thank you for a job well done. We have enjoyed your story and your writing. Because of it, our lives have been enriched. Thank you for sharing it with us. :-)

Well, perhaps they did see what she wrote, but didn't agree with her? (NT)LurkingGirl20:40:20 11/22/01 Thu
