Sure you can. You'll find that it gets easier and easier. Maybe for a while, just as an exercise, try shorts - something maybe a little less ambitious that IA. After all deary, you have to admit (objectively) that IA was quite an undertaking for your first fanfic. The length as well as the subject matter would have made it a challenge to even a much more experienced short story writer.

Just like in a play, when you limit your setting to one basic place and limit the number of characters, you greatly up the difficulty. (The most difficult piece to write being a one room setting with only one character) Very difficult to do for any period of time and sustain interest for the reader.

So, you see, what you accomplished was not a small thing. Give yourself a break, sweetie and get out that pen and paper.
