Subject: The House of Cards Has Fallen Chap:4-5

Setting: Carly's Cell

A few weeks have passed and Carly is still waiting to go to trial. Mac and Dara have dragged their feet for as long as they can to keep Carly in jail as long as possible. And still Carly's delusions keep her going. Bobbie has been in to see her only once and that was the moment she truly lost everything. She thinks back on their visit.

Bobbie: "How could you do it Carly?"

Carly: "She deserved it. Besides, she wouldn't live much longer anyway, what with that virus in her blood."

Bobbie: "Oh my God. I can not believe that I am hearing this. I can not believe that you are my child. What are you? You're not human, you're not even an animal."

Carly: "Taggert calls me a monster. Maybe you should too if you think what I did to protect my family was so wrong."

Bobbie: "That wasn't to portect your family, that to get revenge on Robin for owning Jason's heart so you never could."

Carly: " JASON LOVES ME!!!"

Bobbie(shakes her head): "He loves Robin. His life is hers. His heart is hers. And now you are nothing to him. And to be honest, you are nothing to me now. Goodbye Carly. I won't be coming back."

And then she left. Not another word or even a glance back at her daughter. Not even a glance.

Carly would get even with them. With Robin and Bobbie and Taggert to. (A/N This is ala Wicked Witch of the West's speech to Dorothy) Carly began formulating plans in her mind, but for any of them to work she would need Jason's help. why hadn't he come for her yet? Why wasn't he here? The shuffling of footsteps alerted her to someone's presence.

Voice: "You never pay for what you do. You never take resposibility. Well it's time now Carly! It's time now."

And with that statement made, Carly Roberts breathed her last breath as a silenced bullet pierced her heart and ended her reign of terror.

Voice: "Besides, Robin's Scorpio's life is not yours to end. It's mine."

Setting: The Lighthouse

Lucy sat up in bed her heart pounding and sweat pouring down her face. Kevin sat up and wrapped his arms around her.

Kevin: "Lucy? What's wrong? What happened?"

Lucy: "Oh Doc, I just had this dream, Carly Roberts was murdered."

Kevin: "Well I'm not surprised you had this dream. We're all angry with Carly and it would be understandable for you to want her dead. Even I can't say I'd be sorry to see her gone."

Lucy: "Doc, there's something else. I saw Ryan, Kevin I think he may still be alive."

Kevin: "Lucy that's impossible. He's been dead for years."

Lucy: "I don't know Kevin, this wasn't a dream I don't think. I think it was a vision."

Kevin shook his head. Lucy and her visions. There'd be no convincing her that it was just a dream. Her worry and fear for Robin was clouding her judgement. He lay back down and brought Lucy with him, coaxing her into falling back to sleep. they could at least wait until morning to deal with this.

Setting: Pier 19

A young girl walked along the pier, keeping a watchful eye out for anything suspiscious. Her sister was in this town. She had to find her before something happened. She walked for a few hours and found herself coming up to the Port Charles Police Station. People were gathered everywhere and a gurney was being brought out. It had a body on it. A flash of blond hair peeked out from beneath the blanket. She knew who it was. That woman who'd shot Robin Scorpio in open court. She remembered vividly what happened when her sister,Crystal, found this out.

Crystal: "No. This can't be happening. She keeps doing this and getting away with it."

Crystal's sister had been keeping a close watch on her with security cameras placed in Crystal's apartment. She knew Crystal was deranged and it was hard to tell what she would do from one minute to the next. Especially when she was agitated.

Crystal: "She's going to pay for this. And nobody's going to stop me." She looked up at where the camera was. "I know you're watching Cori, dear sweet twin of mine. And there isn't anything you can do about it either."

Unfortunately Cori had been a few blocks away from Crystal's building and even running full out had not gotten there in time to stop Crystal. She was gone by the time Cori had even reached her corner. Cori went directly to the airport and boarded a flight to Port Charles. There was no doubt that was where Crystal was headed.

And now as Cori watched the body being lifted into the ambulance she knew she was viewing the victim of Crystal's work. But there was always a problem. Crystal had a tendency to not keep her identity a secret when she commited her crimes and Cori was often the one to get burned. Not this time. This time Crystal would get what she deserved. All Cori had to do was figure out why Crystal was so hellbent on getting revenge on Carly.

Setting: Robin's Hospital Room

Jason sat by Robin's bed and waited for her to wake up. She'd been in a coma for weeks and still there was no change. Jason had been admitted when Mac had been called away to the precinct. Carly had been shot to death in her cell. Jason could even muster a tiny bit of caring for her. All his focus was on Robin and helping her get better. He held her hand and talked to her, imagining that this is what Robin did when their places were reversed. He talked and told her how much he loved her and wanted her to wake up. A soft moan captured his attention. He looked at Robin's face and saw her eyes fluttering and then open.

Robin: "Jason?"

Jason(smiles): "Yeah. It's me."

Without thinking he bent and placed his lips on hers. God how he'd missed that.

Robin(pulls away blushing): "Jason, umm... what about Karen?"

Jason: "Karen? What do you mean what about Karen?"

Robin: "Jason, she's your girlfriend. I don't think she'd want you kissing other girls."

Jason felt the blood drain from his face. She thought he was Jason Quartermaine and that he was with Karen. She'd lost that much of her life. That meant she had no memory of them, of Stone, or even... even about being HIV positive. This was so very, very not good.

Chap:5

Setting: Ryan's Cabin

Ryan was just getting out of bed when he heard a knock on his door. Throwing on a pair of pants he opened and found himself flung against the wall and facing an angry Cori.

Cori: "I knew I'd find you here you sick bastard. Where is she?"

Ryan: "Who?"

Cori(shakes him): "Who? You know who. Crystal damn it! Where is she?"

Ryan: "I don't know. I haven't seen her since before I left Brooklyn."

Cori: "Damn! I've got to find her."

Ryan: "Calm down and tell me what happened."

Cori: "Why the Hell should I? So you can go into town on another little killing spree?"

Ryan(shouting): "There are people I need to protect and I can't do that if your sociopsychopathic sister is on the loose."

Cori: "People like Felicia Jones you mean?"

Ryan: "And Robin Scorpio."

Cori: "And you did such a good job of it what with letting Bobbie's whore of a daughter shoot her in open court. Wait a second, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Crystal wasn't the one who killed Carly Roberts last night. Maybe that was your way of permanently protecting Robin."

Ryan: "She's dead huh?"(sarcasm)"Gee that's so terrible I can't even find the words to express my grief. Tell me something."

Cori: "What?"

Ryan: "Why would Crystal have killed Carly?"

Cori: "For hurting Robin."

Ryan: "Why does she care. What is your connection to Robin Scorpio?"

Cori: "I don't know. My mother just told me I had to find her before Crystal did. That's all I've got."

Ryan: "If I were you, I'd go find some help for this."

Cori: "Meaning?"

Ryan: "Talk to her uncle. Tell him about Crystal and the threat she poses to this town."

Cori(faking sweet): "Gee, should I mention your name while I'm at it?"

Ryan: "Do, and I'll kill you."

Cori: "You've almost got the menacing thing down. Almost, but not quite."

Cori turned and left the cabin. Her rental car was parked a ways down the path and she stealthily made her way to it. No telling where Crystal was lurking around. Getting in, she decided to take Ryan's advice and go see Commissioner Scorpio. At least that way she might be able to circumvent anything Crystal might try to pull.

Setting: Room above the Zebra Lounge

Crystal slept fitfully. Her dreams filled with long repressed horrors and nightmares. Memories were the worst reality, the reality you can't escape.

Blurred vision. Sounds of children crying. A slap. The dull thud of a body hitting the floor. Boot connecting with ribs. Dark, cold, damp. The basement. Spiders. Cori screaming. She hates spiders. Cori hates spiders. Fear. Anger.

Crystal woke up in a sweat. She reached her hand up to her face trying to still the twitch at the corner of her eye. And for a moment, she cried. Tears unbidden reached up from the very depths of her soul to course down her cheeks. Another flash of memory. This one more recent.

Her mother. On the ground. Bleeding. Crying. So fitting. She knew. She knew about it all. It was time for revenge. Time for redemption. Pitiless, she moves to her mother. She looks up, eyes filled with terror. "Why?" She asks. You know why! You know exactly why! The knife swings down. Each blow sends her deeper into oblivion. Sinking below flesh and sinew. Cartilage tears and rips away to nothing. Blood pooling on the ground. Footsteps. She runs. Hides. Cori. Bends down. Tries to help. Cries for mother. The bitch knew what happened. Knew what he did. She knew. She had to pay. She had to pay. Family should come first.

Crystal(muttering): "Family. That's why Carly had to die. Because she hurt Robin. She is family. Cori doesn't know. But Crystal knows. She knows Robin is blood. Is family. Family she is. Hurt. So Carly had to die."

She sits back in the chair and begins to formulate a plan of attack. She'd take Port Charles on a ride they could only dream of. She'd make what Ryan did look like child's play. And it would all truly begin with Robin.

Setting: Mac's office

Taggert knocks on Mac's door and waits for the comand to enter. Recieving it, he walks in and sees Mac watching the tapes from the security cameras in the holding cells. It's obvious he's trying to identify Carly's killer.

Taggert: "Sir, there's a girl outside claiming to have information about someone who could be a suspect in Carly Roberts's murder."

Mac: "Send her in."

Taggert goes out and motions for the girl to come inside. She gets up from the chair. There is an air about her and something almost familiar in the way she moves. She sits down in the chair across from Mac and for a moment Mac watches her. His scrutiny does nothing to unnerve her and she begins her story.

Girl: "Commissioner, my name is Cori Delavinnci."

Mac: "Delavinnci? As in Salvatore Delavinnci?"

Cori: "He is my grandfather yes. But that isn't why I'm here."

Mac: "You think you know who killed Carly Roberts."

Cori: "No."

Mac: "No? Then why are you here?"

Cori: "I don't think I know who killed Carly Roberts. I know who killed Carly Roberts."

Mac: "All right. Who? And how do you know them?"

Cori: "Crystal Delavinnci and she is my sister."

Mac: "Your sister killed Carly? Why?"

Cori: "I don't know. But I do know it has something to do with Robin."

Mac: "What?! What about Robin?"

Cori: "She's obsessed with her. I don't know why. Before my mother was mur- before my mother died she told me to find Robin before Crystal did and do everything I could to protect her. She was going to tell me more but it was too much effort and she passed away before she could finish."

Mac: "Your mother, you were going to say she was murdered weren't you?"

Cori: "Yes. She was murdered. She was murdered by Crystal. All though I have no proof. Which is why I came to you. Crystal has killed once that I know of for sure and now I know she's here and someone who hurt the girl she's obsessed with is found murdered in her jail cell."

Mac: "We have been unable to identify her killer. What makes you so sure that it was Crystal? You said there was a murder you were sure she commited. Whose?"

Cori: "Our stepfather, Richard McCormack. He was electrocuted in the bathtub."

Mac: "Accidents happen."

Cori: "This one could have only happened if he wanted toast while he bathed."

Mac winced at this.

Mac: "You're sure Crystal did it?"

Cori: "Her fingerprints were all over the bathroom and there were witnesses who saw her leave the bathroom five minutes before he was found. Plus she hated him anyway."

Mac: "Why?"

Cori: "Reasons I'd rather not discuss right now. All that needs to be said is that she is dangerous and I need your help to catch her."

Mac: "How do I know I can believe you?"

Cori: "I am in training with a government organization. You can give my supervisor a call. He can vouch for my charcter as well as give you the same information about Crystal as I have."

She stood up and handed Mac a business card. It read: Owen Michaels. Executive suprvisor. World Security Buerau. (585) 555-2178 EXT. 771

Mac: "You work for the WSB?"

Cori: "That's right. When you call ask for Hawk. He'll give you the information you need."

Leaving him with the card she turned and left his office to go search for more information on her sister's whereabouts.

Mac sat stunned. Someone out there was obsessed with Robin and could possibly have be responsible for Carly's murder as well as two others. He was just about to call the number on the card when his phone rang.

Mac: "Scorpio."

Voice: "Mac, it's Jason."

Mac: "What's wrong Morgan?"

Jason: "It's Robin. She woke up, but she doesn't remember anything beyond Jason Quartermaine going out with Karen Wexler."

Mac: "So Alan was right. She does have memory loss. What have you told her?"

Jason: "Nothing. I called a nurse and then left to call you. I thought you should be the one to tell her."

Mac had to respect him for acknowledging that.

Mac: "Thank you. I'll be right over."

Mac hung up and shook his head. This whole case was getting weirder and weirder. What was he going to do?
