I did make a point that my comments related to stewards (red and blue) and did not cover other areas of management. I have rarely seen duty managers who inspired confidence. In fairness to them, they real jobs usually do not involve anything remotely connected with customers. For that you have to look to customer relations - and you will sometimes look in vain.

A similar problem of light directions occasionally affects the front of the Arena. It is usually thought a good idea if the conductor is clearly visible to the orchestra (a difficult task since most of the lighting faces the other way so that the entire platform is clearly visible to the audience). The solution is simple - shine a spot down onto the podium. Unfortunately, it sometimes points straight into our eyes.

The answer to that is also simple, ask for it to be moved and it will be. However, you have to get the request to the right people. If you know them it is easy, but if I don't I ask a steward, they can usually manage to get things like that into the right ears whereas their superiors often can't manage it.
