If Philip's numbers are remotely accurate for a heavily over-subscribed concert, then I would reckon the late-night concert given by Los Van Van and Vocal Sampling a couple of years ago (appears to have been 3rd Aug 2000) must have a fair shout at the record. That was one of the years we queued down Bremner Road. I joined the queue at about 8:15pm, about 10 yards up the hill from the alley through the church. The queue was already standing, about 4-6 abreast, and I ended up getting ticket number 449. By the time we were let in, the queue had gone all the way down to Queens Gate, up to the Gore and had come back down Jay Mews, where it mixed quite joyously with the similarly packed gallery queue filling the other side of Bremner Road - so I would be very surprised if there were fewer than 2000 people behind me.
