oh, come on you bunch of misery guts :-), if you think it's going to be so awful, don't turn up! Or if the organ is so crucial to your enjoyment of it, go see him do it with the same forces at Symphony Hall on the 8th of the month. (A great mahler 8 with a terrible organ is perfectly possible: try the Mitropolous at Salzburg, on Orfeo: intense to the point of burning up and leaving star trails). Rumour has it, by the way, that he will be doing it with the BPO, but I think the suggestion that they need 'sorting out' is pretty wide of the mark.

I would hardly call myself a member of the NYO fan club, but it would be a braver listener than I who would assert without the evidence of their ears that Rattle and the NYo will deliver at the very least a thrilling Eighth.

What does it take to keep you happy: Finzi and Rubbra with Hickox?! :-)
