I have only tried to respond, not rant. I raised a subject based on observations I have made over the years and would you believe it, some people actually agreed with me. I started out not wanting to air too many of my own opinions but was tempted out of my shell. However, I now know my place and will return to it fortwith.

As to your "lecture" on my attitude to the Proms and Music in general. Really Alex, anyone who has stood with me in the arena over many years would speak for me regarding my attitude, I don't think I am wanting in that area.

Finally, if you want to perpetuate Sir Henry's original aspirations for "his" proms. Even though they are largely subsidised by the BBC, you should insist they are called by their proper name, "The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts".
But that is a subject for more ranting, and readers, there must be no more ranting in this forum, so much for democracy.
