I personally have found more than enough to justify a season ticket - 40 reasons in fact. Not much Shostakovich this year, but after last year's feast I can hardly complain. And it's nice to see that we're getting a decent diet of Sibelius, considering we only had En Saga last year. Gatti and the RPO doing the Verdi Requiem? Oucccchhhhhhh....... (but I'll be there anyway).

Anyway, all the anniversaries seem to have been marked: Verdi, Finzi, Rubbra, Schoenberg.

Personally, Bluebeard's Castle should be a highlight, as should the usual five-year appearance of Turangalila (with the Gerbil, I note, who should be capable of bringing the NYO up to scratch for an evening). And Haitink's Daphnis and Chloe should be interesting (not really his core repertoire - discuss).

Not sure I agree with Mike about the dumbing down (or the emoticons). Ligeti isn't the most accessible composer, and his Requiem could be a bit of a trial for many...
