Not exactly a pile of pants; but Slatkin's first season seems to me at first surf to show something of a dumbing down; a comparative dearth of new works, a concentration on warhorses and safe programming (such as the St Petersburg Phil's Rakh 3 and Tchaik 1). And most of the highlights seem to be in the second half, but that is nothing new.

Personal highlights (in date order)

Adams' Harmonium (1st night)
Weill's Royal Palace (2nd August)
The Seasons (yes, all of them) (8th August)
The whole Peer Gynt incidental music (9th August)with Jarvi
Klezmer at the Proms for the 1st time (14th August)
Rattle's Fidelio (16th August)
Pappano and the LSO (23rd August)
Wand and the NDR with Bruckner 9 (24th August)
The Boston with Haitink (25th / 26th August)
The Kirov with Gergiev (28th August)
Boulez and the BBC SO (29th August)particular for Le Visage Nuptial
Pierrot Lunaire (3rd September)
Adams premiere plus Flott (6th September)
Barenboim with the Chicago (7th/8th September)
Verdi Requiem (14th September)

Just about enough there to justify a season ticket.

PS: Am I the only one to find the 'emoticons' intensely irritating. Now if there were a facility for putting in accents..
