Subject: Strategy for first 2 years

Not surprisingly, this game seems to be all about money. I suggest the best strategy is to go slow and make sure that a profit is gained each year before going onto the next year. Not making a profit will cause Prosperity to decrease for the next 4 quarters, and the interest rate is high at 10% so once you’re in debt its hard to get out. So don’t overbuild or try to evolve houses too early.

Here’s what I think is a reasonable approach to the first couple of years.

In 1555BC:
Set up the three gold mines and Palace asap, the sooner the gold flows the better. Gold mining should produce between 2100 and 3600db each year depending on how much micromanagement of the return paths is done. Place the houses that will provide workers for the gold mines and Palace first. A single housing block should be able to provide workers for everything, but don’t overbuild. 14 2X2 houses are sufficient.

Set up a small settlement near the entrance point with a couple of houses, a storage yard, architects post and firehouse. Trade the maximum copper and wood during the year.

Do not accept the gift of 3000db from Abedju.

Import grain to feed the people in the housing block. Note that a granary is not needed, bazaar ladies will get grain directly from a storage yard as long as it is being imported.

Build the Personal Mansion, give 1600db to the city and set salary to 0db. In December give 2 lavish gifts to Pharaoh. Kingdom Rating should be 28 in JAN 1554.

Do not go on to 1554 until you can make a profit in 1555, but if you get towards the end of the year and it looks like you can afford more stuff while still making a profit, build a temple to Ptah, pavilion and conservatory. If you still have excess money, import some chariots.

1554:
In January, set salary to 100db, set it to 0db in July when you should have 600db in savings. In December give 2 lavish gifts to Pharaoh. KR in JAN 1553 should be 40. This technique should be repeated every year and will boost KR to the max.

Do not accept the gift of 1500db from Abedju. Comply with both requests for grain. Trade maximum copper and wood, but start the monument by building a carpenters guild and supplying it with some wood.

If you want to try for the Ptah major blessing, make sure you have 2 Ptah temples and hold a festival (but don’t pay for the festival square). Ptah’s appeasement will start to improve once you have 400 people in the city. You will also need to build 1 temple to Bast. Osiris can be ignored.

Do not go on to 1553 until you can make a profit in 1554, but if you get towards the end of the year and it looks like you can afford more stuff while still making a profit, build an academy, recruiter and import chariots to build up the military

Now I'm off to do 1553.
Regards,
Elf
