It's an excellent article very much worth reading. The adversities that Abbey endured have, no doubt, baked in some inestimably valuable qualities that will endure and enable her to get to the next levels no matter what course she chooses in life. Thanks for flagging it!
(Btw, my younger daughter used to work at The Athletic.)

Thanks for posting this.

She has experienced TWO very painful events in her young life (over and above her sports injury), and yet has soldiered on. The article implies she has not yet processed it all; I hope she can do so and maintain her equanimity.

I saw many such lonely deaths as experienced by her father early in COVID, and can only imagine the pain of family members.

Best wishes to her.
