Subject: Columbia Football's Commit, CALEB SANCHEZ

I need to ask all of you a question.

I watch YOUTUBE a lot. What's surprising to me is that I have found and watched a number of videos of Caleb Sanchez on YOUTUBE. In addition, I have attempted to learn about Caleb's high-school past as much as possible.

For example, Caleb played behind two other talented QBs his sophomore and junior years, thus only became the starting QB his senior year when he shined bright.

It remains unclear why he apparently was not heavily recruited. Yet, Caleb has been showing up often on YOUTUBE and looks great in his videos passing for numerous, long passes that result, of course, in touchdowns.

I think Caleb will end up being Columbia's starting QB this coming Fall.

What do you think?

I believe most fbs and fcs programs lock in their qb’s off of junior film (if not soph film).

I have no idea how good he is, but if he is highly skilled that could be explanation for why he was still available for new staff to reel in. To be fair to him i hope Col fans demonstrate patience in their expectations. And of course remember recruiting is always a bit of a crapshoot, even for cant miss prospects at far easier positions. Everyone will know where everyone stands as the summer camp closes out

Tod - his HS film is very impressive, a lot of accurate vertical throws. As you note, he played at a top tier HS program and didn't start till he was a senior, which may explain lack of FBS offers. I have no idea if he will start this fall, but college football is a major jump from even elite HS football and he will have had limited reps with the receivers when the season begins (and limited game experience in HS). Anders Hill was a great athlete with a big arm and he was partway thru his junior year before it clicked. Brackett was great as a freshman, but did not play till game 6 or 7. So ... I would not expect Sanchez to start this fall. He's a big get for us, but might be '25 before he's ready.

We overhyped Nottingham and by doing so put a target on his back. Let’s lay off Sanchez. And if he is as good as we hope let’s keep our fingers crossed that we have him for 4 years.

Ever see a guy miss a throw or dribble off his foot in his own highlight reel?

I know your board personality is slagger of Ivy sports and who knows how the kid will do. But his HS finished number 6 in the country, per Maxpreps, and he was league MVP. His film is very good, and there is a boatload of it. These are not Trinity Christian v Grenwich Prep highlights. But we won't know till he plays.

Exactly. Columbia fans have been burned before, Nottingham and Morningweg (sp?) most notably. Would love to know he walked away from a schollie at Vandy, Duke, Northwestern, to become a Lion. As I've said, highlight films are a recruit's best sales pitch, watched tons of basketball ones and the shooting percentages are 99% with never a turnover. We don't even know if the kid will show up on campus, how about we wait until a few games in?
