Anyway…. Today’s weather report for the men’s heavies from the Navy crew coaches on row2k (a great website if you don’t know it): “Survival mode on the Severn River. Heavy cross-tailwind with considerable whitecaps in the first 1000m. Conditions WORSENED throughout the morning…” First four races completed at 2000m, fifth went 1000m hugging the seawall…. It is open and subject to tide. Wind vs tide gets whitecap nasty in a hurry. Come down from NYC the day before, practice, eat in the midshipmen's enormous mess hall, (that was an experience!), bunk in the spare accomodations of the visitor bunkhouse, get up at crack o'dawn to face the wind n' waves. Nonetheless, Annapolis puts out consistently competitive crews, despite those race day conditions. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
