In reply to: Go Green 's message, "Will Dartmouth first year player get poached?" on 07:13:23 04/08/24 Mon

Nobody can predict how the impact of NIL deals and the transfer portal will shake out over the next few years.

But I'll make one bold prediction: If the Dartmouth softball program can't keep young Miss Jensin Hall in Hanover, then Tommy Amaker's days as a competitive force in this League are over.

More than any coach in any sport in the conference, Amaker built his Harvard program on the core strategy of recruiting players who didn't "belong" in the Ivy League. He was bringing in high major guys into a mid-major conference with the promise of a Harvard degree, the equivalent of a full ride athletic scholarship via financial aid, and the chance to take advantage of other highly ranked recruits who were willing to make the same commitment to yield conference championships and NCAA tournament bids.

If we can't even keep promising SOFTBALL players in our conference, Amaker's whole strategy is out the window.

I see what you did there AO. Putting the word softball in all caps. The subtle misogyny. Well played

Hi, Livvy and whatever different name you choose for your next post as well as your third name for the post after that,

I think most readers would infer that I referred to SOFTBALL as a low revenue sport with limited NIL potential and no professional prospects. That is, a sport in which a Top 20 team could not simply buy a promising Ivy player with a big offer from the school collective.

But you chose to read SOFTBALL as misogynistic in intent. I think you owe me the courtesy of an explication. If you're going to impugn somebody's motives, explaining your train of thought is in order.
