Thankfully, before Oklahoma St- SDSU game the NCAA banned the QR Code emblem on their helmets. NCAA cites the ban on advertising on uniforms. That means we’re spared from this for now. Sports Illustrated reported Oklahoma St’s QR Codes will be placed throughout the stadium, including players bags, video board and drink coasters.

Speaking of helmets, the NFL has decided to allow players to wear the soft "Guardian" practice padded covers on the outside of their helmets. At least one player has announced that he will do so.

I have stated before how funny it is we have a technology in hand which is shown and accepted to mitigate concussions, worn all the time in practice, which is not utilized on game day for the simple reason that players want to look cool and caps don't look manly.

Once a small critical mass of early adopters puts on the Guardian caps, the trend will accelerate. In particular, I predict that it will happen first among married players. There is nothing like having a wife and a family to make a guy do the responsible thing.

...were goofy in the NHL. The Golden Jet would not have gotten that moniker with a helmet to hide his locks. Only HS and College kids wore helmets, then the league mandated that junior league players and rookies wear them. Then some younger players kept on their lids, out of habit or a breath of sanity. Finally, the league mandated for all.
