Not based on any conversations. He seemed to be number 2 last year, although very limited playing time behind the veteran Stenstrom. Hilliard, during media day, spoke of him as if he would be the starter. Of course, pre-season practice has intervened and i don’t know who will actually start at QB. Surace and staff have done very well in recruiting and getting our QBs ready but past performance doesn't guarantee future results. Notwithstanding some significant graduation losses Surace did say on media day this was largely a veteran team. I think the strength of the offense going into the opener is at WR and what I think will be the TE 2 Deep. Carr’s absence reduces us to 2 experienced RBs. If Volker is healthy all season that will be big plus. I am hopeful a third RB also emerges. We have some good returning LBs but graduation took a toll there. I think the strength of the defense is the DB group. I don’t know too much about the other Ivy teams but hope springs eternal for a strong run. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I believe the senior DLs DelGarbino, Ives and Taylor will also be a major strength in the trenches. On O, the starting OL returns several veterans but there is not much experience behind them. Same for the RBs, leaving a big opportunity for Ethan Clark and the incoming first years to step up. Blaine Hipa, or whoever ends up starting, will be the X factor this season. We have seen several QBs over the years emerge from the depth chart (Stenstrom, Davidson, Smith) and perform at a very high level.
