Admittedly, the data is sparse after only one game, but how do we see the final Ivy results based on week one?

Here is what I see:

1. Yale—Bulldogs have depth, a strong O-line, and seem to have found a QB.

2. Penn—Quakers took Solid Delaware team down to the wire.

3. Harvard—Who knows? But Johnnies will face Penn on the road.

4. Dartmouth—hard to count out a strong program.

5. Princeton—Maybe I’m reading too much into lousy opener.

6. Columbia—Impressive win , Tiger- Lion fight will be big!

7. Brown—I may be very wrong here, Bruno could sink his claws into JH.

8. Cornell—New Head Coach has enough talent to produce an upset or two.

Columbia is a legitimate Championship contender. John Poppe, a very good new coach and who bleeds Columbia blue, has inherited a relatively strong program from Bagnoli. He will take it to the next level and quickly. In fact, week one proved he already has done so in beating a ranked opponent.

Cornell also made a good coaching hire in Swanstrom, but he inherited a program in shambles after more than a decade of neglect. They will remain cellar dwellers this year , but are still capable of the occasional upset, just like Archers teams were. Now even more so.

Princeton surprised me with the very poor showing. But they can’t be counted out yet. Brown is slowly moving in the right direction, but are at best middle of the pact.

Top tier remain Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth, with Penn and Columbia nipping at their heels.

Here is my ranking:

1. Yale
2. Harvard
3. Dartmouth
4. Penn
5. Columbia
6. Princeton
7. Brown
8. Cornell
