wow sounds like a real "team player" if he hoped to raise his rep for a potential NFL career - sounds like the wrong way to go about it. I saw this headline and then that he was 4 year Cross player -- what a joke !

On the other hand …

How long would you stick around an organization that renegs on paying you what they agreed to pay you

Lion Rooter, I am afraid that, among Power Four teams for sure and obviously occasionally among Group of Six teams like UNLV, the notion of a "team player" will soon be a quaint anachronism.

Most of these guys know that they will never play on Sundays. Mathematically, 95% won't and it will take some self-delusion for the bottom 50% to think that they are in the top 5%.

So it's time to get paid. NOW, not maybe someday in the future by the NFL.

I want my money now.

It's easy to criticize Sluka and, pre-NIL, I'd be inclined to do the same. But why criticize him now? He went to UNLV for the sole reason that he thought he would receive $100,000 (which by the way, is chump change for a starting quarterback). He's delivered as UNLV is 3-0 with wins over Power Four teams for the first time ever.

Why shouldn't Sluka red-shirt?

I assume that, if he only plays in three games, he might be able to play somewhere else next season. He ain't playin' on Sundays. He wanna get paid now.

No matter what, make some popcorn and pull up a chair. This is about to get really interesting.

Sluka is unlikely to make the NFL as a QB. If he is going to get paid for playing football, his best shot is through NIL while he still can.

I will say that this is a bad situation for all involved...

Right now, this looks like a bad situation for all involved but, very soon, this will just be business as usual. The operative word is "business."

As novel as this appears now, it's simply a run-of-the-mill office disagreement. The plant production manager needed to hire a new foreman, so he recruited a guy who had just left a factory in Worcester, Massachusetts. The new guy showed up and immediately demonstrated that he was up for the job.

But his paperwork had not been processed by Human Resources. It had fallen through the cracks. By the time HR got involved, there were no bills left in the petty cash drawer. No Benjamins, no employee.

I think it was Michael Corleone who said, "It's nothing personal, just business."

Nothing to see here.

Seems appropriate for this to happen in Las Vegas. I can see a few Vinnys stopping by to check on Sluka's health.

Not that it won't happen elsewhere as time goes by.
