Evenly played game. Poor clock management by PU at end of half may have cost them a chance for TD but that was unlikely. Both kickers playing well.

Col having its way with Tiger D, especially the DBs.

Princeton D lost all confidence. Need a TD on this drive or it's over. Driving.

Tiger defense bordering on nonexistent. No concept of "containing the edge."

Columbia is good, Tigers are not. Worst tackling I've seen in years. No imagination on offense. Big plays needed and you throw to two enexperienced tight ends? Then you bring in a running QB who can't even handle a snap on a big 3rd down play. Colella absent all day for the most part. Hipa numerous bad decisions. Def line not coming off blocks and pushed off ball by Columbia. Lions wanted this way more and that may be my biggest beef. O coordinator needs to get ball to Barber in space. QB play will spell doom for the Tigers if not improved.

I thought P qb was excellent in first half, but in second half was suddenly throwing many short passes off target. No idea if this was due to Col defensive adjustments or some other reason

Short passing game is how Georgetown beat Col and after first half I thought it was going to be same story against P. I think Princeton will continue to improve throughout season. Agree that Barber needs the ball more. Fwiw the post game review of the P Oline is that they are all improved from last year

Pretty stunning 2nd half. Not totally on Princeton's failures. Columbia has played really well too. Great placement by Goodwin on the corner route on the last drive.

Chase Goodwin is a much better quarterback already than Daniel Jones. Congratulations to Coach Poppe and his Lions on the victory over Princeton.

Goodwin made two sensational plays in the second half: the 3rd down pass to Stagg was a perfectly thrown ball (and a fine catch) and the TD scramble on 4th and 5 basically won the game. Let's keep him healthy.

Terrible news about Townsend and Canty - two all-Ivy level players. That's going to hurt, although the WRs are a very strong unit.

By Poppe in running out the clock for the last 4 minutes and not trying to punch in another score.

Was at the game. Well done by Columbia, they earned their victory. Good luck to them this year, they have a great team.

Very disappointed in the attendance of 4,111 for the home Ivy opener on a beautiful fall day. Princeton fans in particular did not show up, at all.

At least the Princeton Band did come -- most Ivy bands skip CU these days. Although since Covid they have been half their normal size and a third as large as they were at Columbia games a dozen years ago. And the CU band, now run by the Atletics Dept, is now back and large enough to carry a tune although they were even smaller than Princeton.

The Lions played an excellent game. They had ZERO turnovers. The Tigers had three.

I agree with the Inwood Tiger's comments about the Columbia Football Team, the disappointing attendance, and the CU band. The poor attendance comes from a variety of factors including the failure of the Columbia Administration to provide any indoor or outdoor parking facilities on or near Baker Field. Columbia should have built a multi-use indoor facility with garage space across from the soccer stadium. The lack of parking keeps everyone away. As for the band, the Athlete Administration needs to get one or more well-known local musicians to sponsor the band and provide band members with opportunities and benefits available only in the Big Apple.

A permanent stain on Sovern and Cole. There was our game day parking. Outrageous decision to use a portion of Baker Field for a hospital which could have gone on the east side of Broadway.

Fwiw I love the game day experience at Baker. Once you come to terms with paying for parking (yesterday was for $3 less than at Gtown) it is convenient and in a nice neighborhood

It is a great NYC afternoon; it is a shame more from metro area dont check it out

I really don’t understand why more people don’t show up at what is for me one of the great settings for college football. Great sight lines from anywhere in the stands, glorious views of the Hudson, friendly crowds, good facilities and decent food options.

agree with some of the complaints - we used to have free beer and dogs prior to game - long gone -- we had under the stadium seats delicious burgers etc. cooked on charcoal - tasty - also 86. Food we do have is overpriced and options limited - dogs, pizza, pretzels and popcorn. I bring my own lunch and it is always delicious.

As for parking I don't see what folks expect in Manhattan - no one can find a place to park. However, if you drive around Inwood you are bound to find a place near the stadium anyway. Placement of the hospital is a done deal -- so long ago - give it up; lack of parking also due to womans teams fields right but don't blame the ladies for that?

I'm more impressed that we seem to have a youthful and driven new coach who so far is overexceeding expectations; a great QB from Texas who looks like a matinee idol and he has a hot mom (sorry PC folk) - we beat the Tigers for gawd's sake - that is like finding several parking places right in front of the game x ten.

In the era of "The French Connection" and "The Taking of Pelham 123" I remember seeing tennis great Stan Smith (1972/1973?) moving with the crowd back to the IRT stop at 215th street after the Princeton game. I was impressed, but as a Frosh, or even a Soph, still didn't know much better. Of course, celebrities take the subway! He seemed a genial presence, definitely a head above the crowd, wispy blonde hair, droopy mustache. He must have been accompanying his future wife, Princeton women's tennis captain, Marjory Gengler.

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Ivy sports history. She sounds very accomplished.

And "The Taking of Pelham 123" was an excellent and very underrated film.

Her two younger sisters also played at PU and were equally talented and accomplished, not to mention fetching. Louise was a 3-sport athlete, winner of the von Kienbusch Award as the school's top senior woman athlete, and varsity tennis coach for 25 (?) years. Nancy was individual collegiate squash champion as a sophomore (having learned the game when she started college) and is in College Squash Association Hall of Fame.

THAT’S 100% CORRECT! WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE!
Sovern deserves a SRIH (I’ll let you decode this) for his pathetic and short-sightedly asinine decision to give up uber-valuable Baker Field real estate for no long-term justification. Head-snappingly moronic. We should revoke his degrees for his traitorous action.
