Another photo finish. Brown was lucky to win. But then again all the teams that are winning are usually lucky. Such is the results of parity. Right now, it appears that Harvard is the best team in the league. But we will get a better idea next week. As for Brown and Cornell, both teams have some excellent players, but are incomplete. On the Brown side, they don't have the excellent receivers that they had last year. In other words, they really miss Wes Rockett and Graham Walker. The current receivers are good but not great. A special shoutout to Ben Moseley who has come on like gang busters. But generally, the current crop of receivers can't get the separation of last year's receivers, nor can they bring them down like Rockett and Graham. In addition, they have a very questionable defensive coordinator who eschews blitzing. As a result, long completions by the opposition are the norm. The other issue is that the defensive backs play too far off the receivers thus allowing for multiple catches of 5-7 yards. Get rid of the DC and these problems are solved. The offensive line played great yesterday and that is a big step forward. In addition, Brown has a very respectable ground game, something new this year. Cornell was yesterday's hard luck loser. They lost by attrition. In the end, their defense was too tired to be effective. However, in the future Cornell will be heard from. They have two excellent receivers in Smith and Musunga and their freshman punter has to be the best in the league. He was really a difference maker. Go Bruno.
