I watched much, though not all, of the football game against Harvard. The Crimson were the better team, but I thought that Harvard's advantage came at the skill positions. Columbia was competitive in the trenches. Though the Lions are a level below Harvard and Dartmouth, Columbia is better than they were last year and do not seem poised for regression.

Raise your hand if you thought Columbia football would get better after Al Bagnoli retired. *crickets*

The Lioness' victory over Providence is up there with their best OOC wins in the last couple seasons.

Raise your hand if you thought Columbia women's basketball would not lose ground after Abbey Hsu and Paige Lauder graduated. *crickets*

The Lions' upset over Villanova is their best OOC win in a long time.

Raise your hand if you thought Columbia men's basketball would improve after reprising what was a 4-10 team last season. *crickets*

The future is bright in Morningside Heights.

Dartmouth's current senior class (i.e, the COVID kids) was considered far and away Dartmouth's weakest recruiting class since the early 2000s. We only had a handful of guys with FBS offers.

And if anything, recruiting has noticeably improved since McCorkle has become HC. Just wait till you see how he can develop players that other teams actually wanted...

observer fella - wish i enjoyed your optimism. After football loss at homecoming - it occurred to me that sadly - a big game - huge crowd - we lost. Even when we make a step forward we usually regress - sorry to be so negative but our last football Ivy title was 1961 - let that sink in. We have had tons of football coaches with very little to show for it - in fact we usually had the usual results and off field issues with coaches as well. I remember in the past we had a consultant to review the entire program and check the culture etc. The level of futility and god awful records against Ivy foes is there to see. I don't attend football with regularity any more as I am tired of the same old.

I get it the ivy forecasters said we would be dead last this year - but even when we catch a break there are always 1-2 tams that clean our clocks. Perhaps take the NYU route - drop football and go Div III in other sports -

Yes it seems women's hoops is a bright light - but you may have noticed that generally we might be Ivy co-champs but Princeton wins the tournie. Men's hoops - Ivy success remains a distant goal with our last Ivy title - also in the 70s
