Gentlemen; Our Blue defense was hardly exemplary if were not for four turnovers it may have been a nail biting 4th quarter. The bears did have 33 first downs.

OB,

Yale, like Brown, was missing its defensive captain, but I'm sure that you were not thrilled overall with the play of the Yale defense.

Maybe Brown has more injuries than its depth can handle, or maybe the results on defense are caused by poor coaching or schemes. I don't think it's a general lack of talent, as the defense was decent at the beginning of the year, even good at times. But yesterday was a nightmare from the defense; the offense tends to start slowly; and the result is a losing record in the Ivy and losses in 5 of 6 games with 2 tough opponents looming.

Not sure exactly if this is the whole problem but Brown tends to rush three men. Well, as we saw yesterday those three men never got close to the QB. And when that happens, the QB has too much time to throw. Even the best secondary cannot cover receivers indefinitely. My impression was that if Reid had played and Wilcox had not thrown the interceptions, Yale would have still prevailed. Brown simply couldn't stop them. One other interesting note, Yale's team looked like they were straight out of the Big 10. Reno, may or may not be a great coach, but he knows the value of superior talent. Brown's talent may not be at the level of Yale's, but the real problem is the incompetent coaching!

Gentlemen; Our Blue defense especially linebacker play has been a sore spot all year. Notwithstanding, my best wishes for the bears in their final two contests.

I was waiting to hear what Perry had to say about Saturday's loss. It appeared in today's BDH. Perry said that Jordan, the Yale QB, and Pantelis, the Yale receiver, played "very, very, well". As if that was why Yale won. Of course, they did, Jordan had all day to pass and Pantelis had all day to get free. What I am getting at is this, the issue wasn't how well the Yale men played, it was how poorly Brown played. And I wish Perry had emphasized that point because unless you address the problem, you will never solve it. As noted previously, the week before Yale scored 10 points against Columbia. How come the Yale men didn't play great against Columbia? Ans. Because Columbia didn't let them!! It is not rocket science.

One thing with Perry taking responsibility for a portion of the loss. Reno, would never take responsibility for his decisions which have directly impacted the game results. He’s had many.
For that Perry has a lot more class then Reno, has ever exhibited to his players, and to the Yale Fans . To Brown May the season have 2 more wins for the players. Go Bruno!!
