This week I went 3-1 and correctly picked Army to beat Navy for the CSFL championship game. This brings to total to 28-20 and 10-4 for CSFL. Now that Harvard for won at worst of a share of the conference championship. Congratulations to them on back to back championships. With that said The Big Green and Lions are a game behind. That means Hanover and NYC conference championship sites. The D1-A conference championship games are Preset at one location. Not in our conference; it’s not the case and there’s TWO championship sites. I love Ivy Football.

Columbia’s next game will be for Empire Cup and potentially for the Onslaught Trophy! No matter how The Empire State Bowl outcome, Jon Poppe deserves the Ivy League’s COY award.

Cornell must be encouraged to experience some consistency other than Jameson Wang’s greatness. For the second week in a row The Big Red offense was electrifying.Though out the game QB Wang danced in the packet, he looked liked 1980’s Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham. Last week Cornell defense gave up 286 rushing yards. Today the hindered Dartmouth’s Ivy leading rush attack to 60 yards.

Dartmouth still has a chance to win back to back Ivy championships. However, this unacceptable loss to Cornell will force them to beat Brown and rely on Yale. This is the same situation for them last year. Is this 2023 all over again?

Yale has shown contender or not on a yearly basis a is dangerous November team. Their offense line worked in step with setting up a great pass pockets and sizable holes for the RB’s and QB.

Pennsylvania fell short against Harvard for the second straight year. On the positive side Liam O’Brien will make them serious championship contenders.

Brown plays better than their record indicates but I’m concerned they’ve plateaued and won’t reach a six victories needed for a wining season.

Princeton’s season is long lost but they continue to play competitive. Slot receiver AJ Barber’s 5 first half receptions kept them in the game. Princeton offense showed flashes of their smash mouth with the occasional RB dive from the Pistol. The defense played undisciplined as Yale move the ball anyway they felt.

Harvard lost Jordan Craig and Charles De Prima showed he was the bona Fide starter he was last year and not only a big play gadget player. I enjoyed seeing Shane McLaughlin back. When Kieran Corr missed FG- which has been a problem this year. I thought that would cost the game. After his miss The Crimson turned to Dylan Fingersh for a short 21 yard field. Ever since that botched FG snap against Brown I hold my breath for every XP and FG. Ironically, it was Penn’s missed FG that proved to be the difference.

The Game: Yale 24 Harvard 20- Underdog Eli has a habit of ending
“The Game “ as The “Top Dog” and spoiling Harvard’s “Brake Up” Dinner.

Dartmouth 42 Brown 24- The Big Green will do everything they can to (With Yale’s help) experience last year’s ending.

Pennsylvania 27 Princeton 21. Last year Princeton won by SEVEN Quaker turnovers. Penn won the 2022 game by a touchdown off a blocked punt and three fourth down conversions on their final possession. This game might be wilder than the score indicates.

Empire State Bowl: Columbia 38 Cornell 21. Depending on what happens with The Game in Boston. This might be the biggest game for The Lions since 1961!!!! I hope The Columbia administration goes beyond their means to make sure ALL remaining players that are able to be on hand for this potential pivotal moment in Columbia Football history.

My “State of The League” post from last week asked the question: “What will it take for Columbia to win the Ivy League Football Championship?” Answer: Empire State Bowl win WITH a Harvard loss. Over the years Columbia can painfully close in 1971,1996 and 2017. If they win on Saturday and not get a pice of the Title. This would be the most painfully for this program.

Is Cornell WR/RB Eddie Marinaro on their travel roster? Is he on the team at all? It’s strange to have a highly touted high school player not step on the field during his entire 4 years. This especially, true when Cornell rotates Wide Receivers and Running Backs like basketball players.

Columbia was picked for dead last; if the stars align Columbia can wind up in a first place tie. And all of this while losing 6 starters, including the starting QB, an all Ivy DE, an all Icy center and four other opening game starters to season ending injuries. Still a big hurdle—beating a good Cornell team and hoping that Yale beats Harvard. Stovall’s defense was very good and will have a huge challenge on Saturday. Poppe, Stovall and first year OC Seitu Smith deserve a lot of credit. But credit goes to Al and Mark for putting a lot of the pieces in place. A healthy Bryson Canty looks like a legitimate NFL draft prospect.

You're right that Yale has made an art out of knocking Harvard down a peg since 2016. It's just odd to see that and agree with it. I guess it's been a while since the 9 game H streak.
